Lupe Fiasco to retire?

Lupe Fiasco has done a lot for hip-hop, but after he releases his last three albums, it appears as though he wants to retire.

"It's not too much of a drastic, revolutionary thing. It's the end of one thing, stepping into another capacity now. Music business is a very taxing thing, I've done it for a long time. I've been doing it for like 12, 13 years, in various capacities. Major labels, almost every major label. And it's just time to do something else. I don't really look at it as being that crazy of an idea. I don't really look at it like that. As soon as this contract is up, I'm going to step more into an independent space and have the freedom to do whatever we want."He also revealed that he may become a teacher."Yeah, I got an offer, it's in the works," Lupe said. "But it's not solid yet. It's something that kind of just came up -- very serious, but just kind of like, 'Okay -- go back to the drawing board, figure out what you want me to do, exactly, put a plan together and then let's go back to the table. So that's what's happening right now. If it all comes into fruition, I think it's something I'll definitely be doing." (HHB)
I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Praye tintin calls former group members LIARS!

The former member of hiplife group Praye, called his former group mates Big Jay (Praye Ho Ne Ho) and Eugene (Praye Tiatia) liars live on TV during Wednesday night’s broadcast of The Rundown on TV Africa.

Big Jay and Eugene were on the show to talk about their new single and music video ‘Kwatrikwa’ but when Yaw Sakyi, host of The Rundown asked about the exit of Praye Tintin from the group, the duo insinuated that he left on his own accord. Praye Tintin who was on a previous edition of The Rundown had also made allegations that he left the group because Big Jay and Eugene alienated him from the group. He had alleged that the duo was no longer calling him for radio and TV interviews and they started performing on shows without him.

Eugene and Big Jay insisted that Praye Tintin left the group because he wanted to do his own thing. Yaw Sakyi thus called Praye Tintin live on air to give his account on what really happened. Praye Tintin said that the two were lying to Ghanaians and added that whenever he calls them they don’t pick his calls.  He said, “Sometimes I will use my friend’s phone to call them and when they pick up and hear my voice, they cut off the call. They are lying on TV and you can even see it on their faces”.

Meanwhile the remaining members of Praye said they will move on as a duo and continue with the promotion of their new singles and added that Praye is like the iconic Osibisa group and member can leave and join at any time.  Praye Tintin also revealed that he is in the studio recording more materials as a solo artist

Samsung paid Apple their $1B in 30 trucks of 5cent coins?

Somehow, a story has been taken seriously by some people which reports that Samsung paid Apple their entire $1.05 billion fine through 30 truck loads of five-cent coins. PaperBlog first legitimately reported this as a story, claiming that because Samsung can pay Apple the enormous fine however they see fit, they chose to troll Apple via a huge burden of coins.

It's a damn shame that this story isn't true, in fact it originates from popular meme website 9gag, because naturally it would be hilarious if Samsung actually sent 21 billion coins to Apple. That is 105 million kilograms of copper and nickel - so much metal that it would take more American nickels than there are actually in circulation.

Unfortunately if Samsung ever gets around to paying the $1bn fine - after all we know this will be appealed into oblivion - it'll probably be through a boring wire transfer. Samsung, we challenge you to come up with a clever way to burden Apple with the fine; if you have any suggestions for Samsung, please leave them in the comments below

Appietus not happy with Phamous TV

Ghanaian ace producer, Appietus has expressed his dismay with a recent feature on Phamous TV’s Top 10 Video countdown segment, which suggested that hiplife group, D2 wore inferior clothing in the new music video, ‘Mama Ne Dada’. According to the producer who has D2 under his management, the host of the TV show said the group was not well dressed for the video, describing their clothing as ‘china goods’.

According Appietus, the comments were disrespectful to him and Chapter Two, their costumier. He said the host had no knowledge about the clothing and it was therefore not appropriate to condemn it. He added that in any case, the host should not expect his boys to dress up in designer clothes like Jay-Z because they don’t have millions of dollars like Jay-Z

Appietus insinuated that perhaps Phamous TV made the disparaging remarks about D2’s music video because it wasn’t directed by renowned Ghanaian music video director, Gyo Gyimah who also is the producer of Phamous TV. “I don’t know whether it is because Gyo is jealous or what?” he remarked.

Meanwhile, Gyo has explained that the Top 10 Video countdown segment just analyzes the technical challenges in Ghanaian music videos, and it is not aimed to target or disrespect any particular artists.  He added that the segment is about positive criticism and it is presented in a fun and jovial format to make it interesting for viewers.

Gyo commented, “We need to look at music videos critically because that is what can take us far like the Nigerians have. Unfortunately most of the time, we in Ghana don’t attach the needed importance to music videos”.

He concluded that even music videos directed by Phamous Philms do come under criticism on the segment. He cited a recent comment by the host of the segment, Kim, that Chemphe should have learnt how to dance before attempting do to a dance video for his single, ‘Number One’ as an example. The video was shot by Phamous Philms.

The Game calls his next album "Jesus Piece"

The Game has another album title change, now going with the title Jesus Piece. He tells VIBE the following.
“Trey Songz came with his album Chapter V, and of course 50 had 5 (Murder by Numbers), I just felt like I should jump off that wagon. So I went back into the studio and started doing songs that leaned more towards the title. I think people gon’ appreciate the concept once they hear the music.
I’m a Christian but I’m not ‘holier than thou’. Jesus Piece gives me an opportunity to speak about situations that people like me who love God but are still street and still wanna remain themselves without going the Pastor Mase route. It gives the opportunity to know that it’s somebody out there that feels them.
You can still have swag and be a Christian, you ain’t gotta wear a suit to church, you ain’t gotta take a bath in Holy water. You can still have your Ciroc in the club, it’s just a faith thing and making sure you try to do right. I’m still a father, I still smoke, I still rep Compton, I still might shoot dice or have a fight if I have to defend myself
I wanted this album to supersede what The Documentary did lyrically. Every time someone walks into the studio and listens—from Wayne, to Ross to Khaled—everybody says ‘that’s the Hurricane.’ That makes me feel like I’m the old Game again. I’m just happy because I was able to find that creative space. I’m having fun.”
